Strategy description:

In this context, and Deutsche Welle published a series of video reports, covering the most beautiful fortified churches in Transylvania, filmed by drone: Prejmer, Viscri, Saschiz, Biertan, Valea Viilor and Calinic, as well as other, less known ones. We had shown Saxons' traditions and customs, characters and destinies from a community which has left Romania en masse in the early '90s, after 800 years of settlement in Transylvania. The goal of the project was recovering and popularizing values, traditions and the memory of a community which has influenced the history of Transylvania. This event reflected the diversity of Europe, providing generations today with an exemplary model of ethnic integration and cohabitation. German Embassy to Bucharest and the Romanian Embassy to Berlin were partners in the project. The project was endorsed by Therme and Selgros Romania.


The event was covered by as part of a three-language special section and by Deutsche Welle in its broadcasts. All articles in the special sections was available also in German and English, so that larger audiences had access to the information. Also, we made and interactive map so users can find out more information and pinpoint more easily the fortified churches. We used drone images so that the beauty of the fortified churches to be more highlighted.
